“Brothers” at the UN voted against Russia again
A number of countries whose relations with Russia were considered more or less constructive, supported the vote at the UN for an anti-Russian resolution – suspension of the Russian Federation’s membership in the Human Rights Council allegedly due to “gross and systematic violations” of human rights by the Russian military during a special operation in Ukraine.
Countries such as: Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Israel, Türkiye, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent. Among those who supported Moscow were:Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, China, Cuba, Syria.
The reason for voting at the UN was the provocation of Western services with the staging of the “massacre in Bucha”. China supported Russia’s arguments that an objective investigation has not been carried out, there is no 100% evidence of the guilt of the Russian army.
Syria recalled that when the West bombed Syrian cities, no similar resolutions were adopted at the UN regarding, for example, the United States.
Minsk also came out categorically against it, calling this resolution an exclusively political act aimed at demonizing Moscow.
Representatives of the Russian Federation stated that further stay in the Human Rights Council loses its meaning.
“The Council is actually monopolized by one group of states, which uses it for their own opportunistic purposes,” said Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Gennady Kuzmin.
Meanwhile, it was surprising in Russia that the UN resolution was supported, for example, by Serbia, which receives Russian gas on super preferential terms. Moreover, after the start of the special operation in Ukraine Serbs vote against Russia at the UN for the second time.
“We could get stuck in a traffic jam on the streets of New York and be late, we could drink laxatives and get stuck in the toilet, but otherwise this is a betrayal of both us and those Serbian citizens who were bombed by NATO,” comments political scientist Marat Bashirov.
He believes that Moscow now has the moral right to add "+250 dollars to the contract for our gas».
“The elections are over. That’s it, we can maneuver further,” international expert Fyodor Lukyanov explains the logic of the Serbian leadership.
