Brothers: Belarusians, in spite of the “Gestapo” from the MPK, carried the Russian flag into the stadium in Rio
One of the Belarusian athletes, despite the ban, unfurled the Russian flag at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics. The Belarusian athlete walked about a quarter of the circle before the tricolor was taken away from him.
Now the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is identifying the athlete in order to apply punishment to him. Press Association journalist Matt McGeehan reported this on Twitter.

“They carried our Russian flag. Now the Gestapo will investigate something there,” Belarusian political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky wrote on his Facebook page.
Russian journalists also reacted to the event on social networks. “Bow and respect to the Belarusian Paralympians,” tweeted commentator Mikhail Mossakovsky.
Russian athletes were unable to take part in the Paralympic Games due to the temporary suspension of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) based on the report of the independent WADA commission on state support for doping in the country.
After the decision to suspend the athletes, the Belarusian delegation promised to carry the Russian flag at the opening ceremony as a sign of support for the Russian Paralympians.
However, as Russian media reported, the IPC directly prohibited Belarusians from doing this, saying that such behavior would be regarded as a political gesture.
