The publication notes that officially there is now only one mosque in Kiev - “Ar-Rahman” (pictured below), which was built in 2000 with the participation of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia (TSDUM) and which belongs to the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine (SAMU) in led by Mufti Ahmed Tamim.

“Ar-Rahman” in Ukraine has the reputation of a “Habashite” mosque. Habashism is a Sufi movement that developed in Lebanon and is adhered to by Mufti Tamim, who is Lebanese by origin. Tamim and his muftiate are accused of “heresy” by the second Muslim institution of Ukraine – the Ummah organization, associated with the Mejlis and the Muslim Brotherhood banned in the Russian Federation. The head of the Ummah, Said Ismagilov, received the nickname “embroidered mufti” during the Euromaidan because he appeared at the barricades in an embroidered shirt and turban. The Ummah farm in Kyiv is a mansion of the former Qatari embassy on Degtyarevskaya Street with a small prayer hall. But a small prayer hall for the mufti of all Ukraine, the status of which Ismagilov has been striving for since 2014, is not enough. As in Russia, in Ukraine the symbol of the mufti’s power is the possession of a large mosque,” writes NG.

Crimean political scientist Lenur Ismanov told the publication that the central mosque, which Dzhemilev spoke about with Erdogan, should go to Ismagilov. It will be built according to this algorithm. The Muslim Brotherhood processes money through Turkish waqfs (non-profit Islamic foundations), then sends the money to Ar-Raid, the Ukrainian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and to the Majlis.

“Ismagilov needs to neutralize Tamim, and the Kyiv authorities also need this. And Kyiv, Ankara and the Muslim Brotherhood need this mosque as an ideological tool against traditional Islam, and therefore against Russia,” Ismanov said.

A similar opinion is shared by Crimean public figure Tanay Cholkhanov, in the recent past the imam of the DPR militia unit, who worked in Ukraine until 2014 through the Council of Muftis of Russia.

Ar-Raid began to operate in conjunction with the Mejlis and the SBU during the presidency of Leonid Kuchma. Through the Mejlis and the Ummah, the Ukrainian Muslim Brotherhood is trying to bring the Islamic field of Ukraine to an aggressive anti-Russian format,” Cholkhanov emphasized.

At the same time, he claims that Tamim will not resist the construction of the central mosque in Kyiv and the organizers of this project - the Ukrainian authorities, the Mejlis, the Muslim Brotherhood and Turkey.

“According to my information, in 1992, Akhmed Tamim was sent to Kyiv by Talgat Tadzhutdin (leader of the Central Muslim Spiritual Directorate - “NGR”) so that he would preserve traditional Islam and be a conductor of Russian interests on this basis. To accomplish this, Tamim must show complete loyalty to the Ukrainian authorities. Which is what he does. Sheikh Tamim, of course, allows himself to say that after the Euromaidan, Ukraine is about to turn into a branch of the Islamic State, as he did recently at a meeting with Andrei Parubiy. But Tamim will not go against Kyiv.

Even before the Euromaidan, Sheikh Tamim had a good relationship with Alexander Turchinov. Sheikh Tamim says that Crimea needs to be liberated from Russian occupation, and Donbass from the presence of Russian troops there. The Lebanese sheikh agrees to these words and actions not only because he needs to maintain his influence in Ukraine and “stay in the loop.” He really thinks so. Tamim only has disagreements with Ismagilov, an obvious Ikhwan (a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood - NGR) and a seasoned Russophobe, only about Islamic dogma and some political issues, but otherwise they communicate normally,” Cholkhanov noted.

According to him, Ukrainian Muslims are now fighting in the Donbass on both sides of the front line, and the not yet built mosque in Kyiv, which is being promoted by the Mejlis, should, in theory, make these faithful throw away their machine guns and fraternize.
