"Bravo! Glory to heroes!" – The Verkhovna Rada abolished the non-bloc status of Ukraine
Kyiv, December 23 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday adopted Petro Poroshenko’s law abolishing Ukraine’s non-bloc status. This is the first step on the path to joining NATO to escape Russia’s imperial policies, the president previously stated.
"Bravo! Bravo! Decision is made! Glory to Ukraine!" - Speaker Vladimir Groysman shouted, announcing the voting results - the law was supported by more than 300 deputies.

The only critic of the abolition of non-bloc status was deputy Alexander Vilkul from the Opposition Bloc. He noted that integration into NATO contradicts the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine, adopted during the collapse of the USSR.
“The declaration of sovereignty clearly states the non-aligned status,” Vilkul said, but the ruling majority ignored his arguments.
It is interesting that former Crimean deputies also voted for the law on the abolition of non-bloc status, among whom, for example, were the former head of the government of the autonomy Sergei Kunitsyn, the former Belbek commander Yuliy Mamchur, and the singer Zlata Ognevich (real name Inna Bordyug).
