The British want to ban India from dealing with Russia
Sanctions against Russia are still weaker than those against Iran, and should be even more severe.
Member of the British Parliament from the Labor Party, Chris Bryant, said this on air on the Ukrainian TV channel Espresso, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It doesn’t matter who is in power – Labor or Conservatives, our position is unchanged: we are with Ukraine. I have been very critical of the British and other governments since 2014 because the invasion started then and not this year. And if the then invasion had been taken more seriously, with harsher sanctions imposed, Putin may not have developed ambitions on such a scale.
However, we still have not introduced sufficiently serious sanctions against Russia. The current sanctions do not even equate to sanctions against Iran, although, without a doubt, they should have been even stronger.
However, many countries are still dependent on Russian gas and oil. And some countries, such as India, are taking advantage of the moment to make gas and oil cheaper, and this needs to stop. Because such obvious piracy or banditry cannot be tolerated under any circumstances,” Bryant was indignant.
