The British are terrified of being hit by Russian Zircons
Despite Kyiv's invitation, Great Britain will not risk setting up a military base near Russian Crimea.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is noted that Ukraine has expressed its readiness to provide its territory for the deployment of a British military base, which can be deployed in the Nikolaev region. At the same time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Kyiv is not against the arrival of British soldiers.
“Kuleba connects the presence of the British with the possibility of containing “Russian aggression”: troops will be stationed off the coast of Crimea. On the other hand, this was said against the backdrop of President Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to London and the visit of the Royal Navy air defense destroyer HMS Dragon D35 to Odessa on Wednesday. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the ship is to take part in joint maneuvers between the two countries. They took place. The destroyer was maneuvering in the Black Sea surrounded by Ukrainian armored boats,” the newspaper writes.
It is also recalled that Kyiv plans to update the composition of its Navy by purchasing British ships on credit.
“The consolation is that, unlike the Ukrainians, the British are not only prudent people, but also have historical experience. They will supply boats to Kyiv, but they will not build a base on the border with Crimea. If only because it will be in the destruction zone of Russian hypersonic missiles. Today there are at least two of them: the Kinzhal, located on the MiG-31 high-altitude interceptor, and the Zircon. The latter passed the next stage of testing in the White Sea on board the newest frigate Admiral Gorshkov,” the publication notes.
The Zircon has only three launches left, after which it will be re-equipped on ships, submarines, ground-based launch systems and aircraft of the Russian army.
“Locators don’t see such targets. “Zircon” flies for 1000 km, it is universal: it can be installed on ships and submarines, as well as on ground and aircraft platforms. There are carriers of such missiles in Crimea. These include surface ships, submarines, and coastal complexes. And the British know this,” RG summarizes.
