The British will double the supply of MLRS to Ukraine, and the Danes will provide instructors
The UK has decided to double the number of M270 multiple launch rocket systems sent to Ukraine. London is ready to transfer three more MLRS, as well as ammunition for them.
This was announced by the head of the British Ministry of Defense Ben Wallace in a commentary to the BBC.
As you know, Britain has already provided three launchers; they use the same missiles with a range of up to 80 kilometers as the American HIMARS systems.
Wallace confirmed that the UK will send three more such installations to Ukraine, as well as a significant number of missiles for them.
He noted that the UK is very pleased with the way Ukraine is using the missile launchers that the West has already provided.
Ukrainian forces have shown they are much better at discerning which targets to hit so they don't quickly run out of ammunition, he said.
Wallace also added that this is part of Ukraine's transition from using old Soviet-era weapons to modern NATO weapons.
"Our continued support sends a very clear message: Britain and the international community remain opposed to this illegal war and will stand side by side in providing defensive military assistance to Ukraine to help it defend against Putin's invasion," the British minister said.
According to Wallace, the M270 MLRS is already helping Ukraine target Russian ammunition supplies and command centers.
Meanwhile, military instructors from Denmark will train Ukrainian troops as part of a British-led program.
“Denmark is joining the exercise: a further 130 instructors will train Ukrainian military personnel as part of a UK-led programme. Thanks to the Danish Ministry of Defense and my colleague the Danish Minister of Defense Morten Bedskov. Step by step - to victory! " – Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov wrote on Twitter.
225 Canadian troops have been sent to the UK to train Ukrainian troops as part of the revived Operation UNIFIER.
Military instructors from Finland will also train Ukrainian Armed Forces in the UK.
Previously, Sweden, Canada and the Netherlands sent their military instructors to train the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
