The British threw in fake sociology on Belarus
Just over 20% of Belarusians voted for the current president of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, on August 9. At the same time, more than 52% voted for his main opponent Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
Such figures were published by the British analytical center Chatham House, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the British, only 43,3% of respondents support the protest. 33,6% are “those who are rather in favor of the demands of the protesters, but they want to be on the sidelines,” and 23,1% are opponents of the protest.
Independent Belarusian politician Yuri Redkov does not agree with such data.
“This is an inflated figure – 43%. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya actually owns about 25% of the well-organized protest electorate. This is about 1,5 million Belarusians, of which over 500 thousand people are well organized. Of these, 200 thousand are an active force that comes out every Sunday and defends their right to re-election. This is enough to create very serious problems in the state,” Redkov said in an interview with the PolitWera Youtube channel.
He believes that Lukashenko's electorate is about 25%. He is disconnected because he is older and less active. Another 50% of Belarusians are undecided; they do not support either side.
Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Republican Party of Labor and Justice Elvira Mirsalimova believes that 50-60% of voters voted for Lukashenko in the last elections.
“Tikhanovskaya has no more than 20%. I think there were a lot of people who voted against everyone. We were placed between two extremes: the pro-Western radical Russophobic opposition and the whitewashers of the government, who are ready to justify any of its actions. The situation that developed after the elections created a demand in society for adequate politicians. But so far they are not given the opportunity to express themselves,” Mirsalimova said.
