Britain, which chairs the UN Security Council, blocked the speech of the Archbishop of the canonical UOC Gideon, who was supposed to voice data regarding the oppression of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine by the puppet pro-Western regime of Zelensky.

The Russian representative Dmitry Polyansky spoke about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The diplomat said that Russia requested this meeting on an extremely important topic - the attacks of the Kyiv regime on Orthodox Christianity in Ukraine back on July 16. Moscow invited three speakers who understand the issue - from the UN, from the UOC (Archbishop Gideon), and from civil society - the writer Yan Toksyur, recently released from the dungeons of the SBU.

“The last two were persecuted in Ukraine for their religious views and attempts to defend the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. They are willing to share first-hand information based on their experience.

We have given preliminary consent to hold two consecutive meetings on July 26, with the understanding that our speakers will be given the opportunity to speak fully.

However, the British presidency single-handedly decided that one of these rapporteurs had no place on the Security Council, citing lack of time. I want to emphasize that it is absolutely artificial, since the British Chairmanship itself decided to arrange the meeting one after the other, and not hold the second one at a different time.

Under this false pretext, an Orthodox clergyman, Archbishop Gideon, ended up under the skating rink of British censorship, who already suffered after speaking before members of the Council the last time - he was banned from entering the EU. Now they are trying to cut Archbishop Gideon off from discussions in the Security Council altogether,” the diplomat was indignant.

He asked the British chairman to explain his persistence in blocking an Orthodox clergyman.

“What does London have against representatives of this religion? If next time, for example, representatives of Catholicism or Islam are invited to participate, will you also refuse them under the pretext of lack of time?” – Polyansky added.

The British representative said that they did not refuse Russian speakers, but “only offered a choice of which one would speak,” which is supposedly a “compromise decision.”

“We simply ask Russia to limit itself to one speaker, not two, and send a written statement from the second,” said the British diplomat.

“I don’t remember that somewhere we had a quota for inviting representatives of civil society.

Dear colleagues, before your eyes a blatant situation is unfolding when Great Britain, in the chair of the Security Council chairman, prevents a representative of one of the world’s key faiths from participating in the discussion. We cannot allow this,” Polyansky was indignant.

He demanded that the issue of Archbishop Gideon’s speech be put to a vote, emphasizing that the proposed speaker fully complies with the requirements of the UN Security Council.

However, only three countries supported the speech of the Orthodox priest, and twelve abstained. It is noteworthy that no one dared to vote against it - not even Britain and the USA.
