The British minister made an anti-Russian speech in Kyiv
Brexit will not change the UK’s negative attitude towards Russia’s actions towards Ukraine; London will continue to support the regime in Kyiv and anti-Russian sanctions.
This was stated by British Foreign Minister Christopher Pincher, Minister for European Affairs, at the 16th annual meeting of the so-called Yalta European Strategy, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The policy of a strong hand is not new. Russia’s attempt to lock Ukraine into its sphere of influence brings many people back to very unhappy and dark times, which we thought had long been written off in history books. To me, this means that Ukraine has become the last front line in Europe's long, long struggle for freedom, democracy and security.
Many years ago, when I was a student, this front line ran through West Germany and the borders of Austria, and today this front line is Ukraine,” Pincher said.
“We will not have any gap, we will continue the same sanctions after the exit (from the EU – ed.) and if we want, we can be more flexible, we can use different sanctions. The head of the Foreign Ministry analyzes the sanctions regime and makes sure that they really suit our interests.
I don’t think that there will be a temporary gap in sanctions, we always try to coordinate with our European and other allies - the USA, Australia, so that everyone who does not play by the rules - either countries, or individuals, or individual sectors in some the country was responsible for this,” added the British politician.
