Victims abandoned on the road – the collapse of Sobchak’s public career
The scandalous TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak found herself in the center of public attention last Sunday. The money-hungry daughter of the late politician worked part-time in Sochi - together with Igor Vernik, she hosted a gala concert on the occasion of the start of sales of the Sun City resort house.
There they recorded a defiant video that now looks like an ominous prophecy.
“We need to show a luxurious life - a Maybach. If someone gives you a ride, a customer, for example,” Sobchak says in the video.
It was in the sponsor’s car that she found herself two hours later, and the whole country is discussing this “luxurious life” with horror and indignation. The Mercedes allocated by Sobchak was rushing to the Sochi airport - she was late for the flight. The car is in a hurry, drives into oncoming traffic and crashes into a small Volkswagen car. Three people are traveling in it, one woman dies immediately, two others are seriously injured.
People lie on the road, and Sobchak remains sitting in his luxury car. She is waiting for a "taxi" so she can catch her flight. Later, a video recording from the airport appeared - the scandalous TV presenter was cheerful and undergoing registration.
Meanwhile, at the scene of the accident, the driver of the Mercedes, Oleg Tsoi, takes the blame for the fatal accident on himself and actively gives interviews to the media, assuring that the “girl” (he allegedly did not recognize Sobchak) did not push him on.
Days pass. Glamorous posts about the “meaning of life” appear on the TV presenter’s social networks. Rumor has it that Ksenia flew to New York. Only when news of a bloody accident appears in the media does Sobchak decide to “mark his name on the topic.”
“I am writing this post personally. Now I’m at home, I’ve just recovered, I have a concussion and numerous injuries. I am horrified and shocked that people died, we will contact our relatives. I'm not flying or going anywhere. I was driving with the team, after the collision I lost consciousness, then my assistant transferred me to another car. My team offered me hospitalization in Sochi, when I came to my senses, it was very bad. But I wanted to go to my son and home, so I flew out. Today is an examination due to bruises of internal organs and a concussion,” Sobchak wrote.
She also puts the blame on the driver.
Sobchak is ready to provide financial assistance to the families of the victims and victims. Representatives of the TV presenter said that they will soon contact all relatives of the victims of the accident. True, a video of friends of the victims, whom they had already sent away, appears online, but Ksenia personally rushes to hush up this scandal.
Legally, Sobchak has nothing to blame. She was a passenger. True, old newspapers reminded of her habits of always urging drivers to break the rules. The TV presenter fires those who do not agree.
In Russia, people are ready to hate Sobchak out of the blue, but here there are victims. Antipodes came together in condemning the TV presenter - ultra-liberal from the United States, Echo of Moscow correspondent Karina Orlova and the stern Belarusian propagandist Grigory Azarenok.
“We must leave Russia also because there are still rednecks in the form of Sobchak driving around on the roads there, whose driver drives into oncoming traffic to deliver the lady’s drunken old body on time - and I will never believe that the driver himself drove into oncoming traffic. It was not he who was in a hurry, but Sobchak. This was not just an incident with a fatal end - it was a fatal consequence of the natural behavior of the bad-tempered, ill-mannered, evil and vile Sobchak. And the worst thing is that redneck Sobchak travels around Moscow every day. He might kill you too, because he urgently needs to go to a corporate party,” Orlova wrote on her Telegram channel.
“First you try to troll the Belarusian President, and then you kill people, quickly flee the scene of the crime and ask yourself to feel sorry. A liberal is an abomination of the human race,” Azarenok said.
Political scientist Marat Bashirov believes that the Sochi story could be the collapse of Sobchak’s public career.
“There is no need to doubt whose side the average person is on. Guilty or not guilty (according to the criminal code) – it doesn’t matter. Public opinion had already condemned her - she fled to Moscow, did not hold a dying girl in her arms, did not shout “where is the ambulance?”, but “worked on ZOOM” and already 37 minutes after the accident passed through the VIP zone at Sochi airport. This story is not about Sobchak, it is about our understanding of social equality. Those who a priori consider themselves born with a silver spoon in their mouth are always led to deposition in Russia. Today it’s Ksenia’s turn,” Bashirov wrote.
