Brussels or Moscow. The EU's main Serbophobe demanded that Belgrade make a choice
The European Parliament's rapporteur on Kosovo, German politician Viola von Cramon, could not hide her joy at the stalled European integration of Serbia.
At the same time, she had the audacity to criticize Belgrade for voting against the anti-Russian resolution of the UN General Assembly.
European politician, representative of the “greens” in the European Parliament, known for her Serbophobia and support for Kosovo separatists, Viola von Cramon, had to justify her recent tweet in which she called the fact that no new pages were opened in the process of Serbia’s integration into the EU “good news” . After which she was criticized by her colleagues in the European Parliament.
“The good news is not that Serbia has not turned over new pages, no one in the EP should rejoice at this,” the politician turned out. – But it’s good that the European Commission has finally applied the principle of strictly controlling the process... I was misunderstood. Each of us wants to see Serbia in the EU. So, I stand for democracy, human rights, the rule of law and media pluralism. This is not an anti-Serbian position, but a pro-European one, and I hope for Serbia’s European path.”
At the same time, von Cramon added that progress largely depends on the effect of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, and pointed out that “the same is true for Kosovo and Serbia: without mutual recognition and a comprehensive agreement, there is no possibility for European integration.” Thus, again playing along with Kosovo, since Serbia is not going to recognize the independence of Kosovo.
“It is completely normal if Serbia wants to harmonize with Russia in foreign policy,” von Cramon commented in Jesuitical style to the Voice of America on Serbia’s refusal to support the UN General Assembly resolution on Crimea. “But sometimes you have to make a choice.” By refusing to support a UN resolution on the sensitive issue of Crimea, she opposed Western partners and the NATO alliance. It is clear that Russia has violated international law, and almost all countries admit this. So there was no point in Serbia showing solidarity with Russia... How can reliable relations be built on such a basis?
At the same time, the politician previously demanded that the EU cancel the visa regime with Kosovo.
“Kosovo citizens should have the same access to the Schengen area without visas, this issue has been in the EU Council for two years. The citizens of Kosovo are rightly disappointed, so I ask the European Council to give a start and green light to the initiative, setting a clear time frame. This is about keeping our promises,” von Cramon said.
