“Moscow is shocked by the behavior of the European Union and is considering the possibility of a radical change in Russia’s policy in the European direction. Specifically, the possibility of putting a pause on these relations with both the EU and its leaders Germany and France is being discussed. Until the EU, France and Germany stop attacking Russia in the rude style they are using now,” Markov notes.

According to him, in any case, Russia’s policy towards the EU will now be seriously revised, and now it is being analyzed who may suffer more from this and what needs to be changed.

“In Moscow they consider it simply offensive to suspect that the official Russian authorities are involved in Navalny’s departure. In addition, such suspicions are considered very artificial, because no even minimal evidence has been presented. Moscow believes that all harsh statements by the authorities of the EU, Germany and France are based on completely unsubstantiated suspicions. German authorities did not provide any evidence. Only your own conclusions and very harsh accusations. But no facts,” the expert emphasized.

“Announcing sanctions against the top leadership of Russia, including the head of the FSB, the leadership of the Russian Presidential Administration and the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense and thereby accusing them of poisoning Navalny is a red line that the leaders of France, Germany and the leadership of the EU have crossed. Now they are discussing what Moscow’s reaction should be to this crossing of the red line,” Markov said.
