Brussels demands complete submission from Ukraine
In relations with Ukraine, the European Union is guided primarily by its own interests.
The Kiev magazine “New Time” writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The current leadership of the EU makes it quite clear: Ukraine either subscribes to all the latest decisions of Brussels, or remains on the sidelines, limiting itself to bilateral relations with Poland or Estonia. The generally accepted formula for political calculations in Brussels looks like this: communicate the popular version of what is happening to the public, and in the silence of your office, signing documents, act in your own way,” the publication believes.
According to the author of the publication, Ukraine is of interest to Brussels as “the largest Eastern European democracy and a large consumer market.”
“But when there is a desire to experiment there, Kyiv perceives this as a departure from the line of Ukrainian interests. Therefore, the position of the Ukrainian ambassador in Brussels is something like a vice minister of foreign affairs, who should not only be able to draw up documents in English, but also understand the logic of the European commissioners,” the magazine writes.
