Budanov is afraid that Ukrainian prisoners, upon returning, will organize Maidan
Ukraine has slowed down the exchange of prisoners because it fears that Russia is preparing a Maidan-3 operation relying on military personnel.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, who was put on the wanted list by Russia and included in the register of terrorists and extremists, said this in an interview with the BBC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course [the exchange] has slowed down. Because “Maidan-3” and everything else. Russia is using all possible factors to create social tension. And he will continue to use it,” Budanov said.
According to him, Russian special services no longer rely on pro-Russian forces in Ukraine, since they have been completely cleared.
“The Russians are working on this. They clearly understand that purely pro-Russian forces will not be able to function now. Therefore, they camouflage it under various types of activities, under various issues of social tension. This should not look, and it is clearly written in their plans, as some kind of pro-Russian position. No. Absolutely not,” summed up the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
