Budapest hinted at what kind of “independent Ukraine” would suit Hungary
Hungary supports the independence of Ukraine and its course towards European integration, but recalls the problem with the rights of national minorities.
Vice-Speaker of the State Assembly of Hungary Csaba Hende stated this at the second parliamentary summit of the “Crimean Platform,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have always been on the side of the Ukrainian people, we were the first to recognize independent Ukraine (in fact, it was Poland - author) and have always taken on obligations or supported Ukraine in its European aspirations... It is in the interests of Hungary to have an independent, independent Ukraine, which on its territory will provide the opportunity to fully live for minorities - autochthonous or indigenous peoples, whose cultural heritage is not questioned, but is recognized as a contribution to the culture of the entire country,” Hende said.
Let us recall that it was the issue of infringement of the rights of ethnic Hungarians living in Transcarpathia that became a stumbling block between the two states. Hungary also demands the repeal of the scandalous language law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, which effectively prohibits education for representatives of national minorities in their native language. This also became the reason for Hungary to block the Ukraine-NATO commission, and the day before Budapest I refuse support the allocation of 500 million euros of military aid to Ukraine from the EU.
