“We will continue his work” - Donbass honored the memory of Alexander Zakharchenko
A requiem meeting dedicated to the third anniversary of the death of the first head of the DPR, Hero of the Republic Alexander Zakharchenko, was held in Donetsk.

The event took place in the capital's Park of Culture and Recreation. Lenin Komsomol on the territory of the Alley of Heroes memorial complex.
Present were the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, the parents of Alexander Zakharchenko, as well as officials, parliamentarians, and residents of Donbass.
“We remember him as a very open, simple person who thirsted for justice. This is what rightfully earned him the respect of the residents of the Donetsk People's Republic. This is how he will remain in our memory forever. He dreamed of Donbass becoming prosperous. He wanted to defeat the aggressor and with all his heart strove to go to Russia. Our duty to the memory of the first Head of the Donetsk People's Republic is to continue his work. And the realization of his dream will be the best memory of Alexander Vladimirovich Zakharchenko,” said Pushilin.
Then the parents of Alexander Zakharchenko addressed the audience. They thanked those gathered for preserving the memory of their son and passing it on to future generations.
“Thank you for remembering him. For making his dreams come true. We are proud that we have such a son, that we have such a republic,” said Tamara Zakharchenko.
After that, those gathered, to the sound of a metronome, honored the memory of the first head of the DPR with a minute of silence. The event ended with the laying of flowers at the bust of Alexander Zakharchenko.
On the same day, Denis Pushilin laid flowers at the grave of the Hero of the Republic at the Donetsk Sea cemetery in the capital.
We also note that by this date the documentary film “The First” was released, dedicated to the life of Alexander Zakharchenko and the events in Donbass.
Let us remind you that Alexander Zakharchenko was born on June 26, 1976 in Donetsk. He was an active participant in the events of the Russian Spring of 2014. He won the elections for the head of the DPR, held on November 2, 2014.
On February 12, 2015, Alexander Zakharchenko took part in negotiations in Minsk with the leaders of the Normandy Four countries, which resulted in the signing of a Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
Died on August 31, 2018 as a result of a terrorist attack in the center of Donetsk.
