“We will endure a blackout for three years if they are allowed into the EU” - Lenka Zelenskaya
More than 90% of Ukrainians are ready not only to live without water and heating, but also to be optimistic in order to bring their dream of Ukraine joining the European Union closer.
This was stated in an interview with the BBC by the wife of the President of Ukraine Elena Zelenskaya, who herself spends most of her time in the West - in warmth and safety, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Blackout is not the worst thing that can happen to us. We become more inventive, we try to do all the things that are important with light, then when there is light, we don’t put anything off for later.
I can share my impressions. Recently, just last week, the research ended. They asked Ukrainians how they could, how much longer they could endure in these conditions, without light, without heat. We know that winter can be another challenge for us if there is no heat in our homes. And the Ukrainians, the majority, this was more than 90% of those surveyed, answered that they are ready to endure this - two, three years - if they see the prospect of our membership in the EU.
They want to be equal in this European family. We know why. For the sake of the victory of dignity, for the sake of the fact that this democratic family awaits us, and we want to be in it on an equal basis with others. Ukrainians are ready to tolerate this. We are optimistic about these things,” Zelenskaya said.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova responded ironically to the data of the “first lady” of Ukraine.
“The survey was apparently conducted in a bunker where snow falls regularly,” Zakharova suggested.
Military correspondent Andrei Rudenko noted that it is strange for the president’s wife to sign for the Ukrainian people in such a way.
“The sleek wife of the clown, in expensive clothes, makes a choice for all the inhabitants of Ukraine. This is strange, to say the least. And, at the most, signing people up to live in inhumane conditions is criminal. She, of course, is unlikely to have to experience the same difficulties that she predicts for the entire population.
Elena would rather tell how her husband sold the country to the Anglo-Saxons and how he deceived the whole country. This clown ran for president with a slogan about peace, but instead of giving people hope for a better life, he gave them war,” Rudenko believes.
“The top lady of Ukraine said that 90% of Ukrainians are ready to live with a power outage for 2-3 years, “if they see the prospect of joining the EU.” Wow! And if they don’t see, then how many years will they last without light?” – political scientist Vladimir Kornilov asks a rhetorical question in his tg channel.
