“We will take our territories by force” - Biletsky swung to Kuban and the Caucasus
Ukraine should not delay the return of Crimea and Donbass to its control, since time is on Russia’s side.
The founder of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment, leader of the National Corps party, Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Biletsky said this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Does it make sense today to discuss any territorial claims of Ukraine to neighboring countries?” – asked the presenter.
“Let's look at the map from several sides. Firstly, this map is a very instructive thing, because a huge number of territories that are now outside the borders of Ukraine were very nationally minded.
For example, Pryashchevshchina or the same Kuban. There was a fairly high level of Ukrainian national consciousness. But statelessness, existence outside the borders of Ukraine, even the Ukrainian SSR, led to total Slovakization, Polonization and Russification of these territories. That is, this shows that you cannot play with such things as delaying the issue of Crimea and Donbass for 50 years. During this time there will be no one to return,” Biletsky said.
At the same time, he noted that people living in such territories are for the most part not interested in the possibility of returning to present-day Ukraine.
“Are Ukrainians interested in this? Not interested. People are interested in a successful project. Unfortunately, we cannot call this project that we have now a successful government project. Therefore, there is simply no way to expect Ukrainian interest from the other side in us,” the nationalist admitted.
Nevertheless, he emphasized that he does not exclude the possibility that these territories will become Ukrainian.
“As a student, I walked around the entire coast of the Caucasus. This is, of course, Ukrainian territory, ethnically and mentally very different from Russia. Historical memory and historical interest can be stirred up if we have a successful and effective national project - the Ukrainian state,” Beletsky said.
However, he added, the possibility of returning Crimea and Donbass directly depends on a successful Ukrainian state capable of resolving the issue by force.
“We have a formula that in the occupied territories 95 percent of the population is pro-Ukrainian. This is wrong. They are not the overwhelming majority, but they are a significant percentage of the population. I think we can talk about 25-30 percent. If we talk about young people, then even more. But only the success of the Ukraine project will be the best argument for these people.
However, arguments are arguments, but naked force plays a big role. Russia took it away by naked force, not by referendums, not by some sociological measurements. Therefore, these territories will have to be returned in the same way,” concluded Biletsky.
