“There will be a reason to think.” Western diplomats have backfired from interfering in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation
Foreign diplomats must realize that participation in actions to destabilize the situation in the Russian Federation will not go unanswered.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with Izvestia, the permanent representative of Russia to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, stated in response to a question about expulsion of three Western diplomats from Russia.
“First of all, this was a signal to three specific countries whose diplomats took part in illegal actions in Moscow and St. Petersburg. They and their superiors were well aware of the illegality of these actions,” Chizhov said.
At the same time, he does not argue that a diplomat can study the situation in the host country, analyze, meet and communicate with both representatives of the political mainstream and the opposition.
“And it’s a completely different matter to supply the opposition with money and give instructions, as our Western partners do, and not only in Russia. Look at Belarus, at other countries where forces that the West does not like are in power. I’m not even talking about attempts to participate in some illegal actions, as happened with the three diplomats mentioned above,” says the Russian Permanent Representative to the EU.
He stressed that Russia regards such actions as interference in its internal affairs.
“As for those three diplomats, they were declared persona non grata and left the country or will leave in the near future. For everyone else, I think this is a reason to think about how to behave further,” Chizhov concluded.
