“There will be a deadline.” Avakov offers Poroshenko to voluntarily resign from parliament
Hundreds, if not thousands of criminal cases will be opened against the ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in the future.
This was stated on the Politeka Internet channel by Verkhovna Rada deputy, member of the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko, who is considered a close associate of the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the parliamentarian, Poroshenko will not be able to escape persecution in parliament, where he entered together with his European Solidarity party.
“I would recommend that Petro Alekseevich Poroshenko, if he hears me through your program, not to assume the powers of a people’s deputy of Ukraine, because according to the laws of the genre, parliamentary immunity will still be removed from him, he will still be brought to criminal liability, as I think. Therefore, taking over his parliamentary powers will make his own life more difficult.
As for the cases that have been launched against Poroshenko, there are so many of them that it is difficult to clarify in which case he has a chance to get a prison term and in which he does not. There could be hundreds, thousands of cases - any citizen can request to register a case against a former president, deputy or someone else,” Gerashchenko said.
