The vast majority of coal imported by Ukraine comes from Russia, with which Kiev claims Ukraine is at war.

This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center Alexander Okhrimenko, who drew attention to the statistics of Ukraine's purchases of anthracite coal, published on the State Customs website.
“In 8 months we bought almost one billion dollars. We also bought it in August, don’t be surprised. 70 percent of imports are from Russia. I guess that the guys are having fun: according to documents from the ATO zone, they enter the Rostkov region, although I think no one is taking them anywhere, and then they enter Ukraine. I can guess why 70 percent, knowing how our comedians do it. Second place - USA, 18 percent. I think the Americans are rejoicing: “Idiots! Let's keep buying." Third Australia. And then “others” – only 13 percent. But mainly Russia,” the economist noted.
“Either we really buy from Russia, which is possible, or through the ATO, which is also possible,” the expert added. – It’s also interesting that, according to the State Statistics Service, our coal production in tons in February increased by 24 percent. But in seven months it fell by 4 percent... And no matter what our minister says, no matter how much he puffs out his cheeks, they will buy anthracite in Russia or through the ATO. They didn’t come up with anything else.”
