Be careful: MTS has disconnected numbers in Crimea and is selling them again in Ukraine
Mobile operator MTS in Ukraine (renamed Vodafone) began selling former telephone numbers to residents of Crimea, where Ukrainian mobile communications ceased operation in 2014.
Sociologist Denis Seleznev reports this on his blog.

“We bought a Ukrainian MTS number for our little one a month ago. New in box, everything as it should be. And everything seemed fine, and then suddenly it turned out that the Facebook and Contact accounts of a schoolboy from Simferopol were linked to this number.
In general, as I understand it, MTS has disconnected the numbers in Crimea and is selling them again. At the same time, the linking of accounts on social networks remains the same. Now we can use accounts, including the Yandex wallet of an unknown boy from Simferopol from school 42.
In general, if you live in Crimea and you had your account linked to a Ukrainian MTS number, then it’s better to change it. Otherwise, not everyone is as kind as we are,” writes Seleznev.
