The future of the pipeline bypassing Ukraine: Moscow is optimistic
Gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine will be completed. Russia's permanent representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, stated this during a press conference in the format of a Moscow-Brussels video bridge, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Still, the German government and, especially, business have enough common sense to take into account, first of all, their objective interests, so I am quite optimistic about the future Nord Stream 2 project,” Chizhov said.
“As you know, the Turkish Stream consists of two pipes that run parallel along the bottom of the Black Sea and reach the shore of Turkey. One pipe will be used to cover the needs of Turkey itself, primarily its European part, where Istanbul is located. The second pipe is intended for further export to EU countries,” the permanent representative also noted.
“Russia’s contribution to ensuring European energy security is quite noticeable, and attempts to present this as the use of energy for political purposes come precisely from those who are engaged in this themselves,” the diplomat added.
