“Why certain companies are not in Crimea is a question for them. This is a business, it works where it sees fit, we have no leverage in this regard.

But, firstly, in Crimea there are regional mobile operators, banks, and retail chains. Therefore, not a single tourist will be left without communication or banking services. Secondly, in recent years, large business representatives have begun to enter the peninsula. Now the network of Sberbank offices is expanding, new stores of well-known federal retail chains are appearing. The process is underway, and I am sure that in the near future the list of companies operating in Crimea will expand,” the head of Crimea said in an interview with Izvestia.

He was asked whether it was possible to exclude last year’s incident, when traffic jams at the entrance to Crimea across the bridge reached several kilometers.

“Due to the temporary closure of the airport, the load on the Crimean bridge and the railway has increased significantly. All necessary measures to improve logistics are being taken. During the holiday season, the number of passenger trains increases, as well as the number of cars in the trains. Of course, this cannot fully replace air travel, but it allows increasing passenger traffic.

The relevant services are making every effort to make inspection activities on the Crimean Bridge comfortable for drivers and minimize waiting time. The upcoming summer season will not be an exception: we will increase the number of inspection points, and volunteers will be on duty. However, we must understand that safety comes first, so we ask guests of the republic to be patient,” Aksenov replied.

According to him, in 2023, 14% of tourists arrived in Crimea via the land route through new territories of the Russian Federation.

“It is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure, gas stations, hotels. Drivers undergo inspection procedures at checkpoints Dzhankoy, Perekop, and Armyansk. But you need to keep in mind that along the route there are military and police checkpoints to check citizens’ documents and car documents, and check the contents of luggage upon request. Drivers are advised to comply with the requirements of these services,” added the head of the region.
