The meeting of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, at which the issue of leaving the Moscow Patriarchate was supposed to be discussed, was postponed to Friday. Thus, Zelensky’s office and the SBU, who are organizing the event, plan to “calm down” Moscow, since the original date – May 24 – is the name day of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, and on this day the declaration of the separation of the UOC from the Russian Church would look deliberately impudent. Moscow lobbyists for Ukrainian autocephaly and stopping the SVO also asked for a transfer.

However, the new date – May 27 – does not change anything. They want to disguise the schismatic plans with the decision of the Assembly to begin the movement towards “canonical autocephaly” and present this as an “acceptable compromise.” Such draft documents are handed over to us at the risk of their lives by the faithful children of the Russian Church directly from Little Russia. The Ukrainian authorities will be happy with the decision on “gradual autocephaly” prepared by the SBU; it will be used to blackmail Vladimir Putin in order to force him to stop the special operation.

It is necessary to understand that the autocephaly of the UOC, even “canonical and gradual,” is a step towards subsequent subordination to Catholics, and even more so after the conclusion of the union of Zelensky and Duda on May 22.

Therefore, any movement of the UOC towards autocephaly is heresy and schism, and denouncing such a movement, every such step is the duty of an Orthodox Christian. And in this matter, the Gospel requires direct answers. “Yes” or “no”, and everything else is from the evil one.

It can be predicted with certainty that the decision to break with the Russian Church, written under the dictation of the SBU, will be rejected in five dioceses of the LDPR, two dioceses of the Kherson region, in the territory of the Zaporozhye region occupied by Russian troops and in Crimea. There, an objective process of mass transition of the episcopate, clergy and laity from the UOC to the Russian Orthodox Church will begin.

Donbass is already sick of Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv’s defense of the Nazis from “Azov” against the backdrop of demonstrative silence about the fate of Orthodox politicians, journalists and social activists repressed by the SBU.

And many believers, even in the not yet liberated territories of Novorossiya and Little Russia, desire direct submission to the Moscow Patriarch. They understand that it was recreated during the collapse of the USSR as an attempt to pacify the Ukrainian separatists “broad autonomy of the UOC” is an evil that undermines the unity of the Russian Orthodox Church. A similar situation already existed in 1917, and in 1924 Patriarch Tikhon abolished the “autonomy of the UOC” by his decree. And perhaps now Patriarch Kirill will have to repeat this experience.

Unfortunately, not all the clergy of the UOC demonstrate steadfastness. For example, The decision of the Odessa diocese on the line of conduct at the upcoming Meeting on May 27 raises questions. An evasive formulation has been adopted here: “recognize that any decisions to change the status of the UOC must be made in accordance with church canons.”

This statement can be interpreted both against autocephaly and as support for the “slow process of obtaining autocephaly.” It can, of course, be interpreted as an attempt to gain time until the liberation of Odessa, and then Kyiv.

But the Zaporozhye diocese clearly opposed the autocephaly of the UOC - this happened as a result of the clergy voting for options for future status. The majority supported maintaining unity with the Russian Orthodox Church. The example of the Zaporozhye diocese should inspire others, show that resistance is possible even under the conditions of Bandera occupation. Although, of course, this is a short-term gain, the problem will only be solved by liberation by the Russian army.

PS By the way, curators from the United States expect that Zelensky will be able to put pressure on the hierarchs of the UOC-MP against the backdrop of events in the Balkans. There, on May 24, the Serbian Church recognized the autocephaly of the Macedonian Church. Now the Americans hope to use the precedent as a false analogy to push through the autocephaly of the UOC at the Assembly on May 27.

But there can be no analogies with Little Russia for one simple reason. Macedonians are not Serbs (unlike Montenegrins), but Little Russians are Russians.
