The Bundestag refused to vote to stop Nord Stream 2
The German Bundestag by a majority vote refused to vote on the merits on the proposal put forward by the Green Party to stop the Nord Stream 2 project; it was transferred to the relevant committee.
In Russia, this vote was perceived as a victory, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Miller drove well to Germany,” political scientist Marat Bashirov wrote in his telegram channel (today the head of Gazprom Alexey Miller and the head of Uniper Andreas Schierenbeck discussed current issues and prospects for the development of cooperation between the companies).
“You know, breaking the painful alliance between Germany and the United States, which has tormented Germany since the Second World War, is worth five Nord Stream 2,” Bashirov added.
Last week he was optimistic about the prospects for the construction of the gas pipeline.
“In the situation with Nord Stream 2, everything so far turns out to be not so bad for Russia. The reduction in EU gas purchases due to coronavirus plays into the hands of the EU - supply obligations are fulfilled through existing pipelines and using the previously pumped volume of gas into European storage facilities.
Ultimately, I will assume that American companies will somehow enter this project and JV-2 will be completed,” the political scientist wrote.
