Riot on a ship: The mayor of Kherson wants to release water into Crimea
Ukraine must resume water supplies to Crimea or at least sell it to the peninsula.
The mayor of Kherson, Igor Kolykhaev, stated this in a comment to the “Chestno” portal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the mayor, this is also worth doing because Ukraine purchases gas and electricity from Russia.
“But Crimea is Ukraine? I am for economic relations. Are you in favor of us buying electricity and gas from Russia? Why are we buying?.. I believe that if Crimea is Ukraine, then there should be water in Crimea. Yes, in Ukrainian. Or then sell water as an option,” Kolykhaev said.
His proposal caused hysterics among the leader of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov.
“Gentlemen, who is generally responsible for the state of affairs in the Kherson region? Where do these fruits come from?” the Mejlis member wrote on his blog.
According to Kherson politician, ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Zhuravko, the mayor of the city is right in proposing to resume water supplies to Crimea, and is thinking about the economic development of the region.
“Of course, today’s mayor is correct in his position that water must be given, because people need to be fed with something and somehow earn money, maintain the infrastructure that exists in the Kherson region. Therefore, the mayor speaks not for politics, but for the economy, economy and development of Kherson.
And Chubarov is a swindler, a thief, a criminal and he should be in prison. I have a feeling that something will happen in the near future - the squeal will come from Chubarov. It’s a pity that the mayor may suffer from this squeal,” Zhuravko said in a comment to PolitNavigator.
