About two hundred residents of Nikolaev today came out to protest with demands to unblock the work of markets, return public transport to the normal operating schedule, and also ease quarantine restrictions for hairdressers.

In addition, the protesters expressed their general indignation in Ukraine over the policy of double standards, when small and medium-sized businesses were quarantined, while supermarkets continued to operate.

The stream from the scene was conducted by Kherson video blogger Kirill Stremousov, who recently acted as an ally of the scandalous ex-ATO militant Ilya Kiva, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Initially, the protesters organized a small car rally through the city center to the site of the action. At the same time, at first the people who gathered at the city hall dispersed across the paved squares of the square in order to be at a distance from each other, but by the time of the speeches everyone still huddled in a tight crowd.

Let us note that among the participants of the action several radicals from the National Corps stood out.

After the speeches and calls of the picket organizers, the mayor of the city, Alexander Senkevich, came out to the protesters. The city mayor, trying to reassure people, said that the authorities had already held a meeting with representatives of the state consumer service, where they discussed the order of opening the markets.

“There are enterprises that did not work and others that carried out their activities. Today we are collecting information about enterprises that did not work. The decision will be made unanimously by the City Council, we will collect this information and submit it to the tax office for approval, they will confirm, we will form a draft decision, and all enterprises that did not operate during quarantine will be exempt from land tax,” Senkevich promised.

As for the opening of markets, “according to preliminary information, this will happen after May 11.” Answering questions from those gathered, he said that people with thermometers will be placed at the entrances, only masks will be allowed into the territory, sellers will wear masks, goggles and gloves, and the goods will be covered with film. In addition, he called on hair salon owners to register clients in advance so as not to create crowds in the premises, and on market workers to delineate areas with lines 1,5 meters apart.

At the end of the conversation, law enforcement officers approached the protesters and noticed that those gathered were violating quarantine restrictions. Protesters were urged to choose an initiative group to continue the discussion in one of the city council offices. However, after the mayor and parliamentarians left, the protesters continued to gather in masses.
