Riots are coming: Gazprom makes money on foreign markets, and Naftogaz makes money on Ukrainians
Tariff protests in Ukraine will not only not die out, but will flare up with renewed vigor as soon as the population receives January payments for gas and heating.
Kiev political scientist Kirill Molchanov stated this during a press conference held by GolosTV UA, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If in December people received more payments than in November, although the climatic conditions were approximately the same, and in January we had a week of frost -15, -20 degrees, then in a week you can imagine what kind of payments people will receive for January - for gas and heating. So I highly doubt the tariff protests will die out.
Moreover, in the current conditions they can only increase, because if today or tomorrow either the parliament or the president does not make Shmygal (Prime Minister of Ukraine ed.) and Kobolev (Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz) understand that at least these 6,99 1 should be made retroactively from January XNUMX, then we will see that these regional, local tariff Maidans will continue. When will not only, let’s say, the same pensioners or those on subsidies go out to the regions?
We saw that in the same regions in previous weeks, young deputies of the Shariy Party supported the action against tariff genocide, that is, they also joined this agenda. Therefore, I am sure that if the authorities do not draw any conclusions, there will be more such actions,” Molchanov said.
He also noted that the introduction of a fixed price for gas during the heating season will not solve the problem. The government needs to seriously engage in developing a scheme that will lead to lower gas prices for the population
“There are a lot of options for what to do about it, but our government doesn’t want to do anything about it. They want to continue to earn excess profits from their own citizens, saying that the capitalization of Naftogaz has almost reached the capitalization of Gazprom. Only those make money on foreign markets, and these – on their own population,” said the political scientist.
