Burjanadze explained why Saakashvili needs Ukraine
For fugitive ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, Ukraine is simply a tool for returning power to Georgia.
Former speaker of the Georgian parliament Nino Burjanadze spoke about this in an interview with Ekho Moskvy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“He needs Ukraine as a springboard for the return of Georgia, because this is a person who cannot imagine himself without politics, who is in fact a revanchist by nature. This led to his career's death, because, being in power in Georgia, he began to take revenge on everyone with whom he was dissatisfied, even during his school days.
Therefore, it is absolutely clear to me that no ideas, no pro-American democracy - these are all means for him to achieve his goal. He now needs to destroy Ivanishvili, come to power, and take revenge on all of us who had a hand in his departure,” Burjanadze noted.
In her opinion, Saakashvili had been waiting for a long time for a mistake on the part of the Georgian authorities, as a result of which was able to successfully provoke riots in Tbilisi.
“Saakashvili, for all his eccentricity and unpredictability, is still a political animal who really has a political nose. Moreover, this is a person who is not ashamed and does not disdain any methods. Therefore, he expected a mistake on the part of the [Georgian] authorities. And, of course, it was really very well played,” added the Georgian politician.
