Burkini for the EU turned out to be more important than the Ukrainian issue
At the G20 summit, representatives of the European Union looked like outcasts, stuck in the last century.

This opinion is expressed in an author’s column on the pages of Izvestia by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, according to whom the European Union found itself in an awkward position at the G20 summit in Huangzhou.
“He found himself tied up by internal problems, half of which were invented by himself,” the author notes. – Having fallen into the trap of an artificially inflated conflict with Russia, fixated on anti-Russian sanctions, on ridiculous but noisy preparations to repel “Russian aggression,” Europeans have removed themselves from the category of those who set the tone in world affairs. Instead of the world leaders rejecting the “rogue” to whom they so wanted to “appoint” Russia, the EU representatives themselves seemed alienated at the G20.”
“And the most revealing, even murderous example of the far-fetched nature of their agenda, I would say, oddly enough, is the current heated European debate about... the burkini,” Kosachev emphasizes. – Just think about it – politicians and parliamentarians are adopting belligerent resolutions about “aggression in Europe”, expressing solidarity with “Ukraine’s heroic struggle against the Russian armed forces that invaded its territory”, stationing troops in the Baltic states in anticipation of an imminent Russian attack, etc.
And then (and this is in the midst of “aggression”!), immediately after the end of photo sessions with the Ukrainian president or “five minutes of hatred” in the European Parliament and other structures, they begin to vigorously discuss what is really important to them: the styles of swimsuits in European swimming pools. It is enough to compare the places allocated to “war” and the burkini on the pages of European newspapers to understand: this is all you need to know about the true attitude of Europeans towards “Russian aggression”.
“Their main problem is that they are stuck in the 20th century with their rudimentary fears and Euro-Atlantic institutions, while the world has moved on, which was confirmed in Hangzhou,” sums up the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.
