"Powerbelly stoves and lights on schedule." The expert outlined the dark prospects for Ukraine
Ukraine is in danger of repeating the fate of the Caucasian republics, which in the early 90s faced a severe energy crisis and were forced to install potbelly stoves directly in apartments.
National Energy Security Fund expert Stanislav Mitrakhovich stated this on the Roy TV Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, this will happen in the event of a complete energy blockade by Russia and Belarus as a last resort measure to force Ukraine to peace.
“The version of Yerevan in the early 90s with potbelly stoves from the windows of high-rise buildings - this is possible if there really is a full-fledged blockade from Russia and Belarus, that is, if coal is not supplied, electricity is not supplied from Belarus and from Russia, coal for metallurgy is not supplied yet and at the same time, gas transit through Ukraine is stopped. By the way, the last option is generally absolutely legal, because the current contract requires the need to pay for the transit of 109 million cubic meters of gas per day. If this transit does not exist, but it is paid for, then there is no violation of the contract,” the expert said.
“I don’t yet think that tomorrow the Russian Federation will decide to use such things - I have always believed that this is an option on the table that will be used in the event of a large-scale offensive in the Donbass,” Mitrakhovich said.
