The former mayor of the Lugansk region will be tried for organizing a referendum in the LPR
In the Kiev-controlled part of the former Lugansk region, the ex-mayor of one of the cities will be tried for organizing last year’s referendum on the independence of the LPR.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian-controlled prosecutor's office of the Lugansk region.
The indictment against the ex-official has been sent to court.
“In April-May 2014, the former chairman of the city council, acting in a preliminary conspiracy with unidentified persons, organized a so-called referendum on the territory of the city to support the act of state independence of the Lugansk People's Republic. He gave instructions regarding the allocation of premises for the referendum and the distribution of ballot boxes,” the message says.
The ex-mayor faces imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with confiscation of property. His last name has not been disclosed.
