According to sources, the arrest occurred in early April, and until the 20th the ex-regional was in a local prison. Rudkovsky's current status in the case is hidden.

At the same time, after the incident, the ex-people’s deputy did not turn to the Ukrainian consular service for help, since, according to people close to him, he does not plan to return to Ukraine, where he has not appeared since 2014.

According to available information, Rudkovsky was detained allegedly for a fake Iraqi passport, and during the detention process, several passports from other countries were also found in his possession.

According to the publication, the ex-minister received Ukrainian “biometrics” in one of the European countries (at the Ukrainian embassy) in 2017. By that time, he had two domestic passports in his hands (both issued in 2012), one with a Schengen visa, the second with an American B2 visa (regular tourist). At the time of receiving the “biometrics”, one of them (the one containing the “Schengen”) was, according to the requirements of the law, confiscated. However, the second passport contained a valid Iraqi visa, which was used several times.

It should be noted that back in 2013, the media wrote that Rudkovsky intended to engage in oil production in Iraqi Kurdistan. However, oil production did not work out for the ex-minister due to disagreements with the government of the autonomy. At the same time, it is reported that Rudkovsky has recently been involved in the construction of a liquefied gas pipeline in Iraq, where a large amount of Russian money was attracted.

Also, the former people’s deputy had problems with Ukrainian law enforcement officers - he was put on the Interpol wanted list, being involved in the case of the kidnapping of the ex-head of Neftegazdbych PJSC Oleg Seminsky, a company whose owners at one time included Nikolai Rudkovsky and the current deputy from “Opposition bloc” Nestor Shufrich. Seminsky was kidnapped in 2011 and released only five years later. Among those who ordered the kidnapping, the name of Rudkovsky was named.

However, while the Prosecutor General’s Office was headed by Viktor Shokin, Rudkovsky was removed from Interpol’s wanted list. Information about whether his “card” is still on the all-Ukrainian wanted list is now being checked.
