A former friend of the former Crimean Minister of Resorts Alexander Liev, who moved to Kyiv, ex-Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Rustam Temirgaliev, dispelled his dreams of the imminent “return” of the peninsula to Ukraine. Temirgaliev stated this on his page on the social network.

“The whole logic of these messages is based on three arguments: the high level of Western sanctions pressure on Russia, the growing dissatisfaction of the local population with the unresolved nature of many problems, and the rejection of the Russian status of the peninsula by the Crimean Tatars.

Surprisingly, the authors of these messages do not take into account the opinion of the overwhelming majority of Crimeans who sincerely voted for reunification with Russia in the referendum. The growing discontent among Crimeans is directed not at Russia, but at the extremely low competence of local officials. Moscow understands this very well and is pursuing a policy of gradual rotation of officials in favor of more trained ones from both the mainland and the peninsula itself.

The Crimean Tatar policy will gradually soften and lead to the formation of a fundamentally new pro-Russian elite,” Temirgaliev said.

Let us recall that before becoming Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Crimea, Temirgaliev worked in the parliament of the republic under President Yanukovych and oversaw the tourism industry at the time when Alexander Liev was the head of the resort department. Because of the height of the politicians, many jokingly called the Temirgaliev-Liev tandem “Big and Little Li.”
