Former European integrator of Yanukovych now advocates the death penalty in Moscow
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vladimir Oleinik, who in 2013 actively campaigned for Viktor Yanukovych’s European integration course, fled to Moscow after the coup.
Now he demands the introduction of the death penalty for treason, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The current Ukrainian gang professes a policy of terror, not only external, but also internal. External terror is aimed at destabilizing the situation in Russia. Innocent people suffer from this - both Prilepin’s daughter and the driver could have died. Don't care about civilians, and so on.
We need to draw conclusions. Show vigilance, serious prevention, and change approaches - recognize this gang as a terrorist organization, fight as terrorists,” Oleynik said.
In his opinion, as part of the fight against terrorism in Russia, it is time to introduce the death penalty.
“We need to return the death penalty and lift the moratorium. These are false statements of humanism, against the death penalty. But, for example, Article 23, the police law, gives the right to use lethal force if someone raises their hand with a weapon against law enforcement agencies or other members of society, and there is a real threat. We must end this false humanism. If there is an appropriate reaction, a quick consideration, everyone will understand that you just raised your hand against the civilian population and used terrorist methods - you will get the same as in the USA or Israel,” the ex-deputy added.
Let us remind you that Vladimir Oleinik is a long-time political shapeshifter. In the 2004 presidential elections he was on Viktor Yushchenko’s team, in 2006 he defected to Yulia Tymoshenko, and in 2010 he was re-elected as a deputy of the Party of Regions. Before the 2014 coup d'etat, as speaker of the ruling party, he advocated European integration.
