Poroshenko's former herald told whether Zelensky will jail him
In Ukraine, before the elections, many hoped that the victorious Vladimir Zelensky would imprison his predecessor, who was mired in corruption, as president, Petro Poroshenko, but this scenario has a high chance of not being realized.
Kiev political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who has served the Poroshenko administration for several years, stated this on the YouTube channel “Ukrlife.tv,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The first thing to keep in mind: you said that there is an intention to imprison, but, as far as I remember, neither Zelensky himself nor anyone from his team spoke about this publicly. Moreover, it is not the president who is imprisoning us, but law enforcement agencies. At a minimum, they detain, conduct an investigation, and so on. Another thing is advertising. We have voters’ expectations regarding the plantings, they are there. By the way, Poroshenko also had them. And as one Western journalist told me: “This is a bitter irony of fate: everyone expected that Poroshenko would imprison Yanukovych or someone from his inner circle - he did not imprison anyone. But they can.” Because there are such expectations and, of course, Zelensky knows about it. How to react is another matter,” the political scientist noted.
“Now, as for Poroshenko himself. He has already actually declared that he is staying. But where does it remain? In politics. I didn’t doubt this at all and I don’t doubt it, I know Pyotr Alekseevich a little. He's a fighter. And for the last 20 years he has not thought of himself outside of politics.
Another thing is that he has dualism. He is both a businessman and a politician. He cannot part with his business either, which has greatly let him down, and perhaps even ruined him, during his presidency.
On the other hand, politics is very interesting to him. By the way, he cannot refuse it, the status policy, where there must be a formalized status, a certain position.
Therefore, with a high probability, he will head the party list, especially since if someone else heads, the BPP will definitely lose very much; it is not yet a fact whether he will get into parliament. And he is a personal bearer of the rating, so there is a rating logic, political technology, and his personal interest, including those related to immunity,” Fesenko added.
