Former “main compatriot of Ukraine” Kolesnichenko criticized Russian officials
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Party of Regions and head of Russian compatriots of Ukraine Vadim Kolesnichenko acted as a truth teller in an interview with Sevastopol media.
Kolesnichenko said that the current tragedy of Ukraine is the result of Russia’s inert policy towards protecting the rights of Russians in a neighboring state, and the parasitism of “regionals” on this topic.
“You know, now I understand who needed this in the first place? I think so now, so much time wasted, health, energy was simply wasted. If the Party of Regions faction had really been doing this, there would have been completely different results, on the one hand.
On the other hand, I have always talked about this and keep saying: it is the fault of Russian politicians for what happened in Ukraine. Since 2000, when I was on this topic, it has been impossible to get through. You come and show what is happening, where militants are being trained in Poland, in Western Ukraine. They even spoke with Oleg Tsarev, showed photographs, videos of what they were doing there, preparing for battles in urban conditions. And, “if they don’t take it, we’ll turn off the gas,” all this is bullshit. Well, write and that's it.

The politician complains that Russian state organizations and foundations, designed to support Russians, openly neglected their responsibilities in Ukraine. Even when the Ukrainian authorities moved to direct persecution of Russians and Russian-speaking citizens, this did not have an impact and did not force them to take any effective measures.
“With Rossotrudnichestvo, I almost got to the point of fighting. 2016, we hold the “Great Russian Word” festival at the Livadia Palace. People came from Ukraine, they are already persecuting us, they found an opportunity to come here, they talk about the problems and what help is needed. And the head of Rossotrudnichestvo says with quotes from the American president: “don’t ask what the Motherland has done for you, tell me what you have done for the Motherland.” How is there no swearing here? I said: who are you? People are being killed there, and how did you help them?” – recalls Kolesnichenko.
“Well, a classic example is the Russkiy Mir Foundation, which was created by the Russian budget. In 2007, 370 or 380 million rubles were allocated. I’m trying to hold a competition in Western Ukraine for Russian language teachers, who can be counted there on one hand, to donate some books so that people feel at least some kind of support. No money left. I am writing a letter of request to the Russkiy Mir Foundation, which was created to protect and support the Russian language throughout the world and support compatriots. Do you know what they sent me in response? “We cannot finance a competition for Russian language teachers, because this would be interference in the internal politics of Ukraine.”
And when the head of Rossotrudnichestvo comes to Lvov, he speaks and says: yes, of course, the Ukrainian language needs to be protected, because as a state language it requires protection. And this is where the office of a Russian-speaking organization is taken away, the Russian language is banned, people are persecuted! It's 2008, Yushchenko is president. And today this person is our senator,” said the ex-deputy, obviously hinting at the Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.
The former people's deputy added that the problem, in fact, has not gone away. And the people sitting in the offices of power are very far from the tasks of a special military operation.
“This so-called fight against liberal traitors is not even over today. Today we have people sitting in all echelons of power, just random ones, who today do not even feel that the SVO is going on. These are people from the past, they are tasked with reforming our statehood, reforming our economy, and launching our economy into the future.
This is a great tragedy for Russian statehood. I think that somehow all this will roll along with a common roller. But this is a big problem, so this is a time of lost opportunities,” Kolesnichenko concluded.
