The former “master of Moldova” is trying to overthrow the country’s “pro-Moscow” government
The new government in Moldova will pursue a pro-Russian policy.
The oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who previously usurped power in Moldova and then fled the country, wrote about this on his Facebook, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“President Dodon is imposing his game on everyone, will make Moscow the mistress of Moldova’s politics, will do everything possible to concentrate the main political levers in his hands and transfer the country’s geopolitical vector to the east. The “anti-Plahotniuc” bet was a pro-Russian trap,” says the fugitive oligarch.
Now the path of European integration, in his opinion, is very seriously compromised.
“I believed and continue to believe that the only way for the development of the Republic of Moldova as an independent state is the path of Western experience, that is, the Euro-Atlantic vector of the country’s development,” Plahotniuc wrote.
However, he does not condemn his fellow party members from the Democratic Party for helping President Igor Dodon’s Socialist Party overthrow the pro-European government of Maia Sandu.
“The democrats voted for the resignation of the Sandu government out of an instinct for self-preservation, this is a natural reaction. At the same time, this vote is an assessment of the Sandu government in terms of professionalism and ability to govern,” Plahotniuc explained.
He also expresses hope that the pro-European vector can “still be saved” and proposes creating a coalition between the democrats and the pro-European ACUM bloc.
