The former commander of the Kherson terrorist defense applied for Russian citizenship
The former commander of the 194th territorial defense battalion in Kherson, Dmitry Kuzmenko, together with his wife, defected to Russia and applied for Russian citizenship.
He told journalists that he considered his choice to be the only correct one and called on his former subordinates to follow his example, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have such a date today - my wife and I arrived after much thought and consultation. We decided to apply for citizenship of the Russian Federation. We want to live in a free, new country. On the territory of Kherson, so that we can be confident in the future.
Today, on the territory of Kherson, this is provided only by the military administration and units of the Russian Federation. Taking this opportunity, I would like to appeal to my former subordinates, territorial defense servicemen, so that they make the right choice and follow my path,” Kuzmenko said.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian army continues to strike settlements in the Kherson region, using coordinates received from local saboteurs:
“After receiving such data, strikes were carried out on some populated areas to destroy either these coordinates, targets, or destroy equipment or positions. Directly in the Kherson region, Chernobaevka itself, this is my native village, as a result of these bombings and attacks, about 200 houses were damaged...
On the territory of the Kherson region, the village of Aleksandrovka practically no longer exists due to such actions; many settlements, in particular in the Nikolaev direction, are constantly shelled. Rockets hit schools, kindergartens, and houses. Now Kiselevka is suffering a lot - it’s right on the contact line. People are dying, many are injured.”
Let us recall that Kuzmenko, being the commander of a terrorist defense battalion, entered into battle with Russian security forces, losing several militants. After that, he hid the weapon and disappeared, but was identified by law enforcement officers, to whom he gave the caches.
Now he promises to take care of order in the region together with Russian law enforcement agencies:
“I, as a resident of this city, agree and understand the need to protect this city from various influences, illegal, criminal from the Russian... from the Ukrainian authorities. And this should be done together with units of the Russian Federation...
I will help hold Kherson’s position and restore order here. In particular, especially from the criminal world, who stayed here, never left, and now have weapons available. I will help ensure that these weapons are confiscated. Weapons and items that could harm the population of Kherson.”
