The former commander of the Tornado battalion, Ruslan Onishchenko, who is now on trial for crimes against civilians in the so-called ATO zone, told the Gordon publication about this, according to whom the police killer carried out a special task in the battalion.
“Pugachev was wounded twice, fought in Shakhtersk, Gorlovka, Slavyansk, Torez, Snezhny. I went on reconnaissance missions, and one of them cut the throats of 10–15 militants at checkpoints,” Onishchenko claims. – Conducted special operations on instructions from senior officials in law enforcement agencies. And then the entire staff of our battalion was leaked to the separatists: photos, addresses, phone numbers, relatives - everything! Our relatives remained in the “DPR” – “LPR”; they began to be pressed, put in basements, and their apartments and cars were taken away. They put a price of 300 thousand dollars on my head, and 200 thousand on Sasha’s. The top of the law enforcement agencies assigned “Tornado” combat missions in the ATO zone, promoted themselves, and now they are leaking the fighters and framing the patrolmen.”
The ex-battalion commander claims that his former subordinate was framed by the SBU.
“According to my version: there was another person sitting in the Citroen with Pugachev, apparently an SBU operative. That is why frames were cut from all the videos - so as not to show the operative’s face. Pugachev has been living in Dnepropetrovsk for more than a year, going to gyms, and driving a car officially registered to his relative. And at the same time, he is wanted in the most high-profile case involving volunteers - the “Tornado” case. What does this mean? Pugachev has been cooperating with the security forces and the prosecutor’s office all this year; they kept him for some reason. And the fact that Pugachev officially received the status of a combatant while on the wanted list confirms my version,” says Onishchenko.
