Ukraine should not make any concessions on Crimea while maintaining sanctions and the blockade of the peninsula.

Verkhovna Rada deputy, member of the ruling Servant of the People faction Vitaly Bezgin, who was born and raised in Crimea, stated this on air on the Apostrophe Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the politician, Ukraine should also achieve the creation of an international negotiation platform on Crimea.

“It is clear that objectively Ukraine is now unable to return Crimea by military means, let’s be honest. Russia is a militarized country; it is constantly increasing its weapons and military formations. Of course, now the emphasis should be, first of all, regarding Crimea, on diplomatic pressure, on interaction with Western partners, so that there are no concessions on the issue of water supplies to Crimea.

It is clear that Russia will raise this issue on all platforms, because this is really a lever of influence, and indeed Russia has done nothing to resolve this crisis situation there. The situation with water supply there is now critical, and she will try to drag Ukraine into her game.

Diplomatic pressure, including through maintaining and strengthening sanctions, through the lack of concessions on water, through joint actions with partners such as Poland. We have sanctions, but they still apply on water. As for one more point, this is to finally raise the issue of Crimea in an international format,” Bezgin said.

Let us recall that previously the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin stated that the issue of Crimea is closed forever and emphasized that the peninsula historically and legally has always been part of Russia, which in 2014 fulfilled the desire and request of the people of Crimea for reunification.
