Former DPR militiaman: Debaltsevo cauldron will seem like child's play to Poroshenko
Reserve lieutenant Vladimir Bezruchko, a former fighter of the DPR “Vostok” brigade, shared with a PolitNavigator correspondent his vision of how events in the Donbass will develop in the near future.
P.N.: Lately there have been persistent rumors that the Ukrainian army is actively preparing for serious offensive actions, bringing heavy equipment and weapons here. Everyone was waiting for the onset of the Russian presidential elections. We successfully survived the elections, now everyone is waiting for things to get worse before the World Cup, that is, by the summer. As a military man, can you predict the development of the situation on the contact line in the near future?
V.B.: Well, firstly, I now have the same information as everyone else, that is, from news feeds and TV, I have no other information. Now let’s do the math: if you believe the media, they are dragging one or two echelons of armored vehicles, artillery and everything else here almost every day, and this has been going on for more than a year. Even if we assume that they bring two echelons here a week, one echelon is a battalion, a battalion is 30 tanks (if you take tanks by tank). How many tanks, artillery, equipment and everything else should be here already? Of course, the amount of armor here is increasing, but I get the impression that they are simply pulling equipment to the rear for repairs, and they are bringing here already repaired ones, and considering how they are repairing them, it seems to me that this is more money laundering than repairs.
Vladimir Bezruchko is sure that tying the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass to a specific date is a waste of time.
“Even if Poroshenko launches an offensive, he will lose it; if he doesn’t start, he will also lose. He is in such a situation that any move he makes will be a losing one. Well, they will launch an offensive, maybe at first they will have some successes, they will capture some populated areas, knock out our advanced units somewhere, and then mobilization will follow, the people will rise up, and again there will be cauldrons. All the reserves, and I, and people like me, will still stand up as one, despite their age and health, and go to beat. Again, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will have losses, and the losses will be such that the Debaltsevo cauldron will seem like flowers to Poroshenko, child’s play,” he is sure.
