Former political strategist Poroshenko explained the dangers of his re-election
Maintaining current President Petro Poroshenko in his post and electing him for a second term will finally destroy the institution of the presidency in the country and the legitimacy of the entire Ukrainian government.
Political strategist Sergei Gaidai stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I’m not so panicky about the fact that such an institution will disappear in Ukraine. I don’t think this is the end of Ukrainian statehood. Perhaps this is a new page where you need to live in a country with a parliamentary form of government and, perhaps, for Ukraine, even without taking into account the war.
Let me remind you that the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, has significantly more powers in Israel, which is constantly at war. It is he who determines the actions of the army and appoints the commander-in-chief. This may be a different configuration, but it is all a legitimate way. If Poroshenko remains, it will destroy much more than the presidency. This will completely destroy the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government,” Gaidai said.
