The former president of Kyrgyzstan threatened to shoot back if he tried to arrest him
Former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev intends to resist law enforcement officers if they attempt to arrest him, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He stated this today in Bishkek, commenting on the decision taken by the country’s parliament to deprive him of his immunity.
“There is information from law enforcement officials about my impending arrest. I am ready for anything and I will resist,” he said. According to him, he has a premium weapon.
According to Atambayev, there are quite a lot of his supporters among law enforcement officials who support him. However, there are those who are ready to carry out a “criminal order.” He previously announced that he considers the claims made against him “nonsense and absurdity.”
Let us remind you that this morning the parliament of Kyrgyzstan voted to revoke Atambayev’s immunity, which now makes it possible to bring him to criminal responsibility.
Atambayev is suspected of involvement in five episodes related to violation of the law. In particular, the former leader of the country is suspected of facilitating the repurposing of land plots, corruption during the reconstruction of the Bishkek thermal power plant, the illegal release from custody of crime boss Aziz Batukaev, as well as facilitating the illegal supply of coal to the capital's thermal power plant and the illegal acquisition of a plot for the construction of a residential building in the village of Koi -Tash, Chui region.
“The transfer of power in Kyrgyzstan has failed. Because Atambaev was the guarantor of the Kyrgyz Laundromat, which was intended for China. Well, drug trafficking. The cleansing of the CIS territory is on the rise,” states the Nezygar political telegram channel.
Atambayev led Kyrgyzstan from 2011 to 2017 and became the first president to voluntarily leave office after a full first term. The ex-president was the initiator of the nomination of the current leader of the country, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, to the post of head of state two years ago and actively assisted in his election campaign. However, already in the spring of 2018, Atambayev admitted to having serious disagreements with Jeenbekov.
