“Local Church” is one of the slogans of Ukrainian nationalists seeking to separate the Orthodox Church from the Moscow Patriarchate. One of their plans is to resubordinate Ukrainian parishes to the Patriarch of Constantinople.
Aryev, before becoming a deputy, worked on Petro Poroshenko’s Channel 5. Shortly after the Orange Revolution, he became notorious for his film justifying the need to expel the Russian Black Sea Fleet from Crimea.
