Despite sanctions, Russia will never give up Crimea. Alexander Gauland, who heads the election list of the Alternative for Germany party for the upcoming elections to the Bundestag, stated this in an interview with Deutsche Welle.

“Russia will never return Crimea. I don’t think that sanctions can affect anything,” said the politician responsible for foreign policy in the party.
At the same time, the publication clarifies that Gauland was a member of Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union until 2013, and today he advocates rapprochement with Russia.
