A former Foreign Ministry employee revealed an unpleasant secret about relations with Poland
Poland is mistakenly perceived as a disinterested friend of Ukraine; on the contrary, in relations with Kiev, partners from Warsaw think, first of all, about their own interests and show claims to great power.
Ex-press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specialist in the field of international relations Oleg Voloshin stated this on the air of “Radi Vesti”.

“The firmly established opinion that Ukraine and Poland are brothers forever, like the Russians and the Chinese were, is wrong. Despite the fact that the majority of Poles are friendly towards Ukraine and dislike Russia catastrophically, nevertheless, the Poles have their own interests.
Andrzej Duda represents the camp that wants to see Ukraine as friends and allies, but as part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in one form or another, i.e. where Warsaw clearly sets the tone, and not as an equal partner. And therefore, it is very significant and very logical, in principle, for his position that only recently a telephone conversation took place between Poroshenko and Duda, despite numerous, as I know, offers from the Ukrainian side to meet before the inauguration, after the election, Duda declined from these proposals. Moreover, in his inaugural speech he actually said nothing about Ukraine.
And his statement about changing the format of negotiations on Donbass, which everyone took as follows: oh, how cool! now the Poles will join... Well, firstly, the Poles will not join anywhere, no one will let them in, and secondly, if they did join, no one in Russia would be afraid, to put it mildly, yes, you can include Estonia, and Georgia there, etc.
And thirdly, most importantly. Duda said this not in the context of the fact that the interests of Ukraine are poorly defended by Germany and France, but he said clearly and directly: Poland is a neighbor and an important player in the region. Why without us? This is a claim to such Polish great power. Why, without a country that claims to be a leader in the region, do extra-regional players, as they believe, Germany and France, decide the fate of a country that was subordinate to Warsaw?” – Voloshin explained on Radio Vesti.
