“Back in 2011, I informed the minister that police officers were heavily involved in doping. There was no reaction. Doping in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was practically legalized by the inaction of the leadership. Today, from one thousand to five thousand police officers do not catch bandits, but play sports and are heavily involved in doping. This is up to 10 billion budget money. I propose to transfer this money to Crimean pensioners,” Kustov said at a press conference in Moscow.
He has previously stated that doping is widespread in Russia among athletes who are not members of national teams and therefore do not undergo regular testing.
“Officials sit huddled in their chairs and are afraid to face the truth in order to stop this bacchanalia with doping. First-class athletes take doping in order to be candidates, and for the coach to receive another category. It is necessary to introduce criminal liability,” Kustov said.
